2018 JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS Basketball Results

Freeman VS Sterling:

Freeman “A” fell to the Sterling Jets 24 to 26 in a thrilling overtime game. The teams battled evenly to a 2 to 2 first quarter; Sterling led 9 to 6 by halftime and Freeman regained the lead 14 to 13 heading into the final quarter. It looked like a Falcon victory as Kaylee Bures hit two free throws to give Freeman a three point lead with 6 seconds left in the game…..but Macy Richardson had other thoughts and tossed in a three point basket to send the game to overtime. The Jets picked up the win out scoring the Falcons 4 to 2 in overtime to make the final score 26 to 24. Scoring for Freeman were: Lexi Winkle 10 points, Kaylee Denker 8 points, Kaylee Bures 4 points and Paige Mahler 2 points. Macy Richardson led Sterling with 15 points

Freeman won the two quarter “B” game 21 to 4. Scoring for Freeman were: Madison Gee 11 points, Talisa Buhr 4 points, Mattee Fry, Kylie Meldon & Grace VanEngen each 2 points.

 

Freeman VS Malcolm:

On Thursday, Malcolm came to Freeman to complete a busy week for the Falcons. The “C” team started off the day with a 9 to 2 win in a two quarter game. Scoring for Freeman were Mattee Fry 5 points and Kylie Meldon & Grace VanEngen two each.

The “B” team also played well and came away with a 13 to 4 victory. A strong defensive effort held the Clippers to one basket in the first and fourth quarter for their four points. The Falcons didn’t score much better but did score 4 points, 3 points 4 points and 2 points for their quarter scores. Scoring for Freeman were: Talisa Buhr 6 points, Mattee Fry 5 points and Madison Gee 2 points.

The “A” team got off to a good start leading 9 to 3 after the first period and 15 to 5 by halftime. But the three tough games during the week caught up with the Falcons as the Clippers held Freeman scoreless during the third quarter and scored 10 to tie the game going into the final quarter. Malcolm outscored Freeman 10 to 5 during the final quarter to record the 25 to 20 victory. Scoring for the Falcons were: Kaylee Denker 5 points, Paige Mahler 4 points, Kylie Boyer 4 points, Kaylee Bures 3 points and Lexi Winkle 2 points.
