Yearbook class “Limitless” in creativity. Price increases December 31

The Freeman yearbook staff is hard at work creating the 2018 yearbook. The students have chosen the theme “Limitless” and are currently taking pre-orders for the book. The cost is $45 and the price increases to $50 after December 31. Books can be stamped with a student’s name for an additional $5 and the name stamp option is no longer available after December 31. Books can be purchased at the school through Mrs. Kastanek (make checks payable to Freeman) or online at yearbooksforever.com.

In class, much of the fall semester was spent working on theme, cover design, advertising sales, design elements, photography, and coverage assignments.  Students create a “ladder” which dictates content and design assignments for the book, thus creating the “plan” to follow for the year. So far, fall activity and class portrait pages are nearing completion and will be ready for a January deadline. The first draft of the cover has been submitted to the publisher. Fall activity pictures from Anderson Studios have been ordered and we are awaiting their arrival.

In September, students attended a training workshop hosted by Walsworth publishing at Mahoney State Park. Students had the opportunity to learn how to use Online Design software and work with a graphic artist. Students networked with other schools and attended seminars about photography, marketing, writing, leadership, and design.

“I really like this class because I love how we can be productive in making something and piece together our senior year,” stated senior Kaitlyn McNeil.

“I love that we work really hard, but we also take time to celebrate all of the memories and events the we put into the book,” remarked senior Abby Mason.
