FFA Enjoys Successful Growing Season

The FFA is wrapping up its fourth season in the Freeman Community Garden by finishing harvests, cleaning up this year's plants, and preparing the grounds for the winter.  This year, FFA members produced 2,300 pounds of produce that was donated to local community members in need and other food distributions.  Another 1,000 pounds of produce was donated by community members' extra produce.  Among the produce donated were watermelons, cantaloupe, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, strawberries, rhubarb, sweet corn, beans, kale, tomatoes, and peppers.

Over the past four years, the Freeman Community Garden has donated 8,411 pounds of produce to our local community and the community has chipped in an additional 2,964 pounds of produce from their gardens.  Special thanks to Marilyn Folkerts and her helpers who distribute our produce to local community members and food distributions.

The FFA is very excited to see the garden expand to the lot to the east.  Renovations to that lot will begin this fall or spring.  If you would like to help with that project, please contact Mr. Jensen at tjensen@freemanschools.net or 402-988-2525  ext. 134.
