Technology 4 Parents

The world of education is very different from the one that you may have graduated from.  This is a good thing- much of the world has changed; developing confident, balanced, motivated, life-long learners looks, sounds and feels differently.  Parental involvement is a critical factor that can increase student achievement.  However, most parents these days have extremely busy schedules, work different hours, and can't always help their child with homework or come to school for conferences and events.  Technology can help!  But what if I don't know how to use this technology?

There is a new quick link from the Freeman Home Page called Tech4Parents! On this page, you will find information on how to contact your child's teacher, see their lunch balance and grades, become an observer in their canvas course, download the Freeman App and a host of other things.  Do you want to find out how to become more involved in school?  If so, see the information for new parents!  Are you curious how to use facebook and twitter and wonder what hashtags and pages to follow? Check out the links on using these apps!  Do you want to get text messages from the school?  See the page on school messenger.

Parent's will also find several articles on teaching their students responsible digital citizenship, tips on using technology in the home, and sample downloadable contracts you and your student can use regarding responsible technology use.

Mrs. Renken will be available at the Open House on August 15th from 6:00-7:00 pm in room E105 to help with setting up any accounts or answering any questions you may have.
