Lady Falcons Place 5th at Thunderbird Invite

The Lady Falcons competed in the Thunderbird Invite held at Johnson County Central on Tuesday.  Lincoln Lutheran won the 11 team invite with 125 points, Johnson County Central was 2nd with 76 points, and Falls City Sacred Heart scored 60 points for a third place finish.  Several of the girls saw big improvements in their times and distances from last week and overall Coach Renken was pleased with the girls' efforts and where they are at this point in the season.  The Lady Falcons scored 54 points on their way to their fifth place finish, so they really weren't that far out of third place.  One of the bright spots for the Lady Falcons was Emily Lenners in her first ever 300 hurdle race.  Emily wasn't in the fastest heat and she came out and placed 5th.  That was an incredible showing for her first time ever doing the event!!  Ashley Oltman ran a great 3200 meter race yesterday, 12:34.32  and was just seconds off of Elyse Schlake's school record time of 12:31.1 set in 2003.  That will be a good goal for Ashley to work for this season.  The only first place finish yesterday was Kayla Haynes in the 100 meter hurdles.
