The 2015 Freeman Softball team finished the season with a 12-11 lose to Auburn at the C-2 District tournament held at Auburn on Thursday the 8th of October.  Our 9-20 record was a reflection of a young program learning new positions and adjusting to injuries.  We started the season with a group of girls that came together from 5 different summer teams, and we worked to come together as one Freeman Falcon squad.  Our girls were successful in achieving the goal I set out for them, “Get better every day”.  We would have loved to have won more games, yet I am confident moving forward that our program is heading in the right direction.

Our Seniors this year will be missed, every one of them contributed to the growth of the program.  Megan Timms was a solid defender this year, and she was a versatile spark that help us through some difficult times.  Elizabeth Milke stepped into our designated player role where she gave us a reliable bat all year long.  Paige Helmink started the year as a vocal leader by inspiring the team to stay motivated, she finished the year as our right fielder and a key contributor in the batting line up.  Emily Klein was a solid clean-up hitter and the owner of the teams only over the fence homerun.  EK also caught every pitch for us this year, she was fantastic behind the plate. In addition to her solid bat, Katie Bohlmeyer will be difficult to replace at 1st base, she was phenomenal all year long digging out throws at 1st, Katie saved us countless errors with her great glove.  Rachel Page did a great job as our pitcher this year.  Rachel was a solid defender as well, she has to have some of the quickest hands in the state.  Rachel was also a clutch hitter all season long with a .494 batting average, she also set a team record with 29 RBI’s this year.

Our 2015 Softball team set team records and represented Freeman at the top of the state in a number of categories.  Tori Bredvick’s school record 27 steals lead all of Class C, and her .546 batting average was 9th in Class C.  Fielding percentage honors went to Katie Bohlmeyer at .995 and Rachel Page .983, both lead their positions in Class C. I am very proud of the Freeman Falcon Softball team and everything they accomplished this year, We will miss the seniors, but the future looks bright.
