Freeman Speechers at Last Invitational

Eight events placed at the Waverly Forensic Classic on Saturday, March 2. Twenty-six teams competed in this final invitational before various district contests. This was one of the most competitive events for the Freeman team this season.

Earning medals in the Varsity Finals Division was Jeff Wallman first in Persuasive; Anna Harder, Lindsay Hottovy, Shannon Koenig, Gerrit VanEngen, and Jeff Wallman first in OID; Gerrit VanEngen second in Entertainment; Blake Lenners fifth in Informative; Celia Timms sixth in Poetry; and Meghan Schellpeper sixth in Entertainment. Speechers earning medals in the Novice Finals were Emily Klein fourth in Humorous Prose and Elizabeth Milke fifth in Serious Prose.

Placing well in prelims were the OID of Courtney Buhr, Halley Dorn, Blake Lenners, Morgan Lenners, and Chelsea Rapp; the Duet with Lindsay Hottovy and Shannon Koenig; and the Duet with Anna Harder and Jeff Wallman.

The top placing teams were Lincoln East, Louisville, Raymond Central, and Gretna. Freeman came in at fifth.

The team will travel to Humboldt on Wednesday, March 13 to compete in the nine-team C2-1 District Contest. Freeman will compete against the host school along with Friend, Lourdes Central Catholic, Omaha Christian Academy, Palmyra, Southern, Tri-County, and Weeping Water.
