Speechers at Season's Last Invitational

Waverly Forensics Classic

Seven events placed at the Waverly Forensic Classic on Saturday, March 3. Twenty-one teams competed in this final invitational before various district contests. This was the most competitive event for the Freeman team this season.

Earning medals in the Varsity Finals Division was Alex Richardson who tied for 2nd, but received 3rd with reciprocal points; Anna Harder, Lindsay Hottovy, Shannon Koenig, Gerrit VanEngen, and Jeff Wallman 3rd in OID; Maddie Clark 4th in Poetry; and Jeff Wallman 6th in Persuasive. Speechers earning medals in the Novice Finals were Austin Ruskamp 2nd in Persuasive, Jessica Larkins 4th in Extemporaneous, and Austin Ruskamp 5th in Extemporaneous.

Missing finals by one point in this highly competitive meet was Blake Lenners in Informative. Also just missing the cut was Maddie Clark in Serious Prose. The top placing teams were Lincoln East, Louisville, Omaha Westside, Freeman, and Blair.

The team will travel to Superior on Tuesday, March 13 to compete in the nine-team C2-1 District Contest. Freeman will compete against the host school along with Friend, HTRS, Johnson-Brock, Lourdes Central Catholic, Southern, Sutton, and Thayer Central.
