The Freeman Speech Team competed in the eleven team conference meet on Wednesday, February 22 at Lewiston. Fourteen events out of eighteen entered broke finals which helped earn the team first place.

Conference Champions are Alex Richardson in Entertainment; Abbey Klein and Shannon Koenig in Duet; Blake Lenners in Informative; Jeff Wallman in Persuasive; and Anna Harder, Lindsay Hottovy, Shannon Koenig, Gerrit VanEngen, & Jeff Wallman in OID. Placing second was Johnathan Neil in Extemporaneous. Third place medalists were Abbey Klein in Humorous, Courtney Buhr in Informative, Claire Richardson in Serious Prose, and Morgan Lenners, Halley Dorn, Courtney Buhr, Blake Lenners, & Chelsea Rapp in OID. Placing fourth was Celia Timms in Poetry. Earning fifth was Sarah Page in Poetry and Claire Richardson in Persuasive. Medalling at sixth Jessica Larkins in Extemporaneous.

The medal winners all earned superiors in addition to the following students in their events: Madeline Clark in Serious Prose, Lindsay Hottovy in Humorous, Mackenzie Ruskamp in Entertainment, and Madeline Clark & Johnathan Neil in Duet.

This will be our last competition with our friends in this conference. Placing second was HTRS, third was Johnson-Brock, fourth was Falls City Sacred Heart, and fifth was Nebraska City Lourdes Central. Freeman will once again battle with HTRS, Johnson-Brock, and Lourdes Central in district competition.
