Polar Express Trip

The Freeman Speech Team attended the Mustang Invitational on Saturday, February 18. Twenty members made the cold excursion without heat to Sutton for this seventeen-team competition. The speechers saw some of their district competition in this highly competitive event.

Breaking finals were Jeff Wallman first in Persuasive; Abbey Klein and Shannon Koenig first in Duet; Johnathan Neil fourth in Extemporaneous; Anna Harder, Lindsay Hottovy, Shannon Koenig, Johnathan Neil, and Jeff Wallman fourth in OID; and Blake Lenners sixth in Informative. The top ten in each event were also awarded medals. Bringing home eighth place was Madeline Clark in Serious Prose, Claire Richardson ninth in Serious Prose, and Abbey Klein ninth in Humorous Prose. Tenth place medalists were Sawyer Boddy, Michael Clark, Trevor Klein, Jessica Larkins, and Hannah Neil in OID.

Triathlon medalists were Abbey Klein fifth and Madeline Clark ninth. Johnathan Neil was also in three events, but rules prevented his recognition. Extemporaneous speaker Jessica Larkins finished just one point short of medaling. Special acknowledgement goes Michael Clark, Madeline Clark, and Johnathan Neil for participating in the Duet Improvisation.

The team will travel next to Lewiston for the Pioneer Conference Meet on Wednesday, February 22. Invitational competition will continue at HTRS on Saturday, February 25th.
