Wolken Qualifies For State Track Meet

The Freeman Falcons competed in the class C-1 District Track Meet held at Johnson County Central on Thursday.  As a team, the Lady Falcons finished fifth in the District and qualified Denae Wolken for the State Track Meet.  Denae ran her best mile time in her four year career and won the event in 5:41.8.  She also qualified in the 800 meter run with a second place finish and a time of 2:26.8.  The State Track Meet will be held next weekend at Burke Stadium in Omaha.  Both of Denae's events will take place on Saturday with the 800 meters to be run at 9:30 a.m. and the 1600 meter run scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

Lincoln Christian won the District with 117 points, Lincoln Lutheran was second with 93 points and Johnson County Central was third with 84.5 points.  Other individual places for Freeman were as follows:

100 Meter Dash:  6th place, Megan Milke, 14.2

400 Meter Dash:  4th place, Megan Milke, 65.4

800 Meter Dash:  2nd place, Denae Wolken, 2:26.8

1600 Meter Run:  1st place, Denae Wolken, 5:41.8

3200 Meter Run:  6th place, Amber Mason, 14:30.0

400 Meter Relay:  3rd place, Jasmine Hagemeier, Sara Marker, Jenna Vanderbeek, and Megan Milke, 55.5

1600 Meter Relay:  4th place, Denae Wolken, Jasmine Hagemeier, Bailey Buhr, and Megan Milke, 4:29.6

Lincoln Christian dominated the boys division and scored 175 points.  Lincoln Lutheran was second with 91 points and Nebraska City Lourdes was third with 85 points.  Freeman finished in ninth place with 9 points.  Individual results for the Freeman boys were as follows:

100 Meter Dash:  5th place, Ryan Busboom, 12.1; 6th place, Jerod Nieveen, 12.1

400 Meter Relay:  3rd place, Jerod Nieveen, Ryan Busboom, Matt Nieveen, and Cody O'Grady, 46.8
